As TPKNEWS exclusively reveals, the biggest and most consistent financial donor of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) over the past two years is neither a tycoon, nor a construction cartel, nor an offshore-backed foreigner – but the Tumane Monastery and a network of religious fanatics who regularly visit it.
According to unofficial information obtained from within the monastery brotherhood itself, more than two million euros flowed from Tumane into SNS coffers during August and September alone. Money collected through offerings, candles, icons, and so-called “voluntary donations” from believers mysteriously found its way into party funds – later used for vote buying, rally financing, and maintaining the party’s political machinery.
This revelation raises a crucial question – where does faith end, and where does politics begin?
Over recent years, Tumane Monastery has grown into a center of religious tourism, but also into a financial black box operating at full capacity. While thousands of people wait in long lines to touch relics or leave donations “for salvation,” the money is being used behind the scenes as fuel for political marketing and voter bribery.
The SNS seems to have found the perfect formula – blending religious fanaticism with party interests. Believers think they are “helping the Church,” but in reality, they are keeping the party’s apparatus alive.
It is no secret that in recent years, the idea has been promoted in Tumane that “those who support Vučić – support God.” Such rhetoric creates a symbiosis between politics and religion. Those who give money believe they are investing in their own salvation, while in fact they are funding sandwiches, transportation to rallies, and applause in front of TV cameras.
Locals are already calling Tumane “the SNS’s golden goose.” While the people cling to faith as their last hope, the party clings to cash – converting it into votes.
This is not the first time the ruling party has been linked to illegal financing. Since 2012, opposition figures and investigative journalists have warned about parallel sources of funding – from rigged construction tenders and fixed public procurements to “donations” from the diaspora. But this is the first known case where a church institution is directly tied to the party’s black funds.
Such a practice is extremely dangerous, as it merges two of society’s most sensitive elements – faith and politics. Criticism of the Church is perceived by believers as blasphemy, and criticism of the party as treason. This creates a double barrier to the truth.
If reports of multimillion-euro transfers are confirmed, it will be clear that Tumane is far more than an ordinary monastery. It is a financial stronghold of the SNS – an institution serving as a front for money laundering and sustaining the regime’s infrastructure.
In a country where the average citizen struggles to survive on 500€ a month, it is scandalous that millions from religious donations are being funneled into political accounts. This not only exploits people’s faith but directly undermines trust in institutions, democracy, and society itself.
If this trend continues, Serbia will cease to be a secular state and will instead become a politico-religious corporation – where prayers at the altar are no longer directed to God, but to Vučić.
